It has been a year since the isolated Alaskan town of Barrow's population was decimated by vampires during its annual month long sunset. Riddled with grief over the death of her husband Eben, bound by nightmares and void of all emotions beyond hate and sorrow, Stella Oleson has spent the past months traveling the world, trying to convince others that vampires exist. In November 2012 Rachel Kusza and her team of film makers travelled to Transylvania to document the Baciu forest. A forest with a dark history of strange occurrences, ghost sightings and countless cases of missing people. The film crew were never heard from again. After searching for the film crew for two years Howard Redman, Rachels teacher, found the crews camera buried in the snow. Before taking own life on the 12th Febuary 2014 Redman uploaded the footage to the internet. It shows the crews dark and horrific journey into the woods, it shows why locals refuse to enter and it shows that you can never escape your past. This video is widely referred to as The Devil Complex.

The journalist Patrick works at the VICE, a company dedicated to cover bizarre news. When his sister Caroline joins a community, she travels abroad with her new family. Out of the blue, Caroline invites her brother to visit her in an undefined country and Patrick travels by helicopter with his friends Jake and Sam that work with him at VICE. They find weird that the men that have come to guide them to the Eden Parish have guns. On the arrival to the camp, Patrick, Sam and Jake find a community of happy people that worship Father. A teenager must survive a Halloween night from Hell when malevolent trick-or-treaters come knocking at her door.
This movie is getting a lot of hate and poor scores, and I am failing to see why.
What we got was a movie that could have easily been a feature in "Trick r' Treat" or "Tales of Halloween". This is a good thing. The imagery and setting in this film might have been some of the best I have seen. The colors and backgrounds that almost made it look like a painting were just wonderful to look at it, and there were times where it felt almost Rob Zombie like.
The designs of the "Hellions" were clearly inspired by Sam from Trick r' Treat and I am 100% okay with that. They were dirty and creepy. Buckethead was my favorite design by far.

Young couple Madeleine and Neil are coaxed by acquaintance Monsieur Beaumont to get married on his Haitian plantation. Beaumont's motives are purely selfish as he makes every attempt to convince the beautiful young girl to run away with him. For help Beaumont turns to the devious Legendre, a man who runs his mill by mind controlling people he has turned into zombies. After Beaumont uses Legendre's zombie potion on Madeleine, he is dissatisfied with her emotionless being and wants her to be changed back. Legendre has no intention of doing this and he drugs Beaumont as well to add to his zombie collection. Through time, they have lost the ability to turn victims into vampires and have become almost fully human, yet still have the need to feed and satisfy their vampire urges. As a result, they must integrate into society and hunt as a team to survive. Due to their integration, they start to express human feelings of love and companionship. But there may be a way to save their species. With the help of a mad scientist, they will try to procreate with humans to keep the species alive and restore their past prowess. However, the strong love and companionship they've developed may force them to stay as mortal humans, instead of going back to being immortal vampires.

I have a soft spot for indie productions with zero budgets. Zombies attack? They obviously choose the backwoods. Why would anyone ever go hiking in the US of A? The backwoods are full of zombies or aliens. Plot Zombies attack in the backwoods meets Robot Bloch's the skull. Score, sounds a bit like dead island. It is very nicely shot. The image is clearly 1080p. . Overall if you love hokum this is going to be your movie. It is available now now Amazon Prime. Though this may not be Dawn of the dead it is at least as good as Zombie Chronicles.
